It seems that when quantum mechanics are taken into account, the math says that a warp bubble would become unstable at faster than light speeds. Sad  More info here: http://www.technologyreview.com/blog/arxiv/23292/

I can't do it captain, Warp drives would become rapidly unstable once superluminal speeds are reached.

...It just doesn't have the same ring to it.
