www.musicrivals.com has a decent text game. it allows you to make your own band hire people, play gigs and release cds and crap. you can make your own record label after awhile. choose the equiment your members use and such. its not winning any awards, but if you find yourself bored and school or work, its worth a shot.

Ooh, I's digs me some Text based adventure. I still play the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Text Based adventure game. Though it took me 10 years to find it since I could barely feed myself, much less read when it came out. So I'll give it a look.

yea its cool, my band sucks ass though because i only log on once a day set up a gig make a cd and log out, we float around 400 bucks haha.
