I used to have a ColecoVision when I was a child and I'm no stranger to using emulators to play games, but I've never tried to emulate the ColecoVision. Can you guys recommend a good emulator? Am I allowed to ask where I might find the games?
According to
Cowering, there's 343 known CollecoVision ROMs. Less than half of those are retail games. The rest are alternate versions, public domain demos, hacks, and whatnot. You can download all (or most) of the retail games on
this page in one archive. You can also download them separately on most ROM sites (like
ROM Nation,
ROM World, or
DOPEROMS).
As for the emulator... I see from your post that you use Linux, but for some reason the forum software didn't pick up the distro. I use
ColEm. I'll attach the Linux binary, but you can find other choices
here.
This site will eventually feature a section for miscellaneous consoles like ColecoVision, Mattel Intellivision, TurboGrafx-16, and others... we just haven't gotten to it yet.
